A relaxed 2–4 mile hike through Shirley Canyon with waterfalls, swim holes, and plenty of time to cool off and connect 🌈

Join us for a scenic (and slightly splashy) adventure up Shirley Canyon! We’ll wander through granite canyons, mini waterfalls, and hidden swim holes—perfect for cooling off, lounging, or just vibing with new friends. 🌈💦
Distance is flexible (~2–4 miles round trip), depending on how long we linger at the water (which… let’s be honest… could be a while 😄). At minimum, we’ll hike about 1.2 miles up and back (roughly 2.4 miles total), with the option to continue farther depending on the group’s energy.
📍 Meeting Point
We’ll meet at the Shirley Canyon Trailhead (1912 Chamonix Pl, Olympic Valley, CA 96146) at 10:00 AM. We’ll hang around for about 15–20 minutes to gather everyone and plan to start hiking by 10:20 AM.
🚗 Parking Logistics
There is very limited parking at the trailhead (assume there will be none available). Please park in the Palisades Village parking lot and walk to the trailhead (~0.5 miles depending on where you park), and factor in extra time for that walk.
🥾 Hiking Pace
We’ll keep a relaxed group pace so everyone can stay together and enjoy the experience. If you prefer a faster pace, you’re welcome to hike ahead and explore.
🌤️ What to Bring
- Good hiking shoes / sturdy footwear (the trail is rocky and uneven in places) - Water + snacks - Layers (weather may be chilly, especially near the water) - Towel + change of clothes if you want to take a cold plunge - Something you don’t mind getting wet 😄
There are lots of swim holes and little waterfall spots along the way, so expect opportunities for optional splashing and lounging.
